Bursa Technical University (BTU) has strengthened its national and international collaborations by becoming a member of the Turkish Universities Union (TÜRKÜNİB). Emphasizing the importance of joint projects with Turkish universities, BTU Rector Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar stated:
"With the Turkish Universities Union, we are now stronger. Our next goal is to join the European University Association (EUA)."
Expanding Cooperation in Academia
BTU continues to expand its collaborative network not only in the public and private sectors but also among universities. Taking the initiative to establish a Technical Universities Union in Türkiye, BTU is making strides toward international recognition.
In this context, BTU's membership in TÜRKÜNİB was officially approved during the 7th General Assembly Meeting held in Baku, Azerbaijan. TÜRKÜNİB includes:
Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan as full members
Northern Cyprus and Hungary as observer members
The Union aims to:
Harmonize academic programs among member universities
Implement a common credit transfer system
Promote faculty development programs
Leverage the strengths of member universities in specific fields
Conduct joint education and research projects

Speaking virtually at the 7th General Assembly Meeting, Rector Naci Çağlar emphasized the benefits of BTU’s membership for both the university and the Turkic world:
"Through TÜRKÜNİB, we aim to foster collaboration among universities, inspired by our shared history, culture, and language. Our goal is to cultivate future generations with a strong sense of common identity and to establish education standards that align with modern scientific advancements.

Orhun Exchange Program to Be Implemented
Highlighting future academic exchanges, Rector Çağlar mentioned the Orhun Exchange Program, which will soon be structured and implemented:
"BTU is now stronger with the Turkish Universities Union. Our next goal is to become a member of the European University Association (EUA). Once we complete this process, we will gain even greater global recognition.
