Graduation Pride at Bursa Technical University

Bursa Technical University (BTU) celebrated the 2023-2024 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony, where 1,200 students proudly received their diplomas. Speaking at the event, BTU Rector Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar emphasized the advantages BTU graduates have:

"Thanks to the career model we implement, our graduates are taking their first step into life with a significant advantage."

Held at Mimar Sinan Campus, the ceremony was attended by Bursa Governor Mahmut Demirtaş, Deputy Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mehmet Tözün Bingöl, Yıldırım Mayor Oktay Yılmaz, Osmangazi District Governor Ali Partal, Gürsu District Governor Naif Yavuz, AK Party Bursa Provincial Chairman Davut Gürkan, Bursa Uludağ University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Cafer Çiftçi, along with representatives from academic institutions, the business world, NGOs, and families.

"The Century of Türkiye Will Be Stronger With You"

Highlighting the significance of graduation as a turning point in students' lives, Rector Çağlar said:

"We are sending you off to new lives and new beginnings. You will contribute to our country's development and the national technology initiative. We firmly believe that the Century of Türkiye will be built stronger with you. And we also believe that the justice and freedom the world is longing for will come with the Türkiye you build."

"This Year Was Very Difficult for Our Palestinian Students"

BTU hosts nearly 1,500 international students from 93 different countries, and this year was particularly challenging for Palestinian students. Addressing the situation, Rector Çağlar stated:

"Many of our students' close family members have been martyred, injured, or displaced. A terrible genocide is taking place in Gaza. Israel is carrying out massacres indiscriminately, targeting civilians, women, children, and innocent people. Homes, places of worship, hospitals, and even universities in Gaza are being ruthlessly bombed and destroyed.

In response to this humanitarian tragedy, university students worldwide, including our students at BTU, have organized demonstrations against Israel throughout the year. I sincerely thank and congratulate our students and staff for their honorable stance against Israel’s oppression. I hope for peace to prevail as soon as possible."

"We Trust Our Graduates"

Emphasizing that BTU graduates have an edge in the job market, Rector Çağlar continued:

"We trust our graduates because you have been well-prepared through the knowledge, skills, and experience gained at our university. In addition, our career model allows students to gain full-time industry experience during their final year, giving them a head start. As a result, more than 70% of our graduates secure jobs within six months, and many students receive job offers even before graduation.

With this valuable experience, you are stepping into life one step ahead of others."

Advice from Rector Çağlar

Stressing the importance of staying connected with alumni, Rector Çağlar offered the following advice:

Embrace Artificial Intelligence: Learn how to integrate AI into your field, but always make the final decisions yourself.

Work Ethically: Succeed not only with knowledge and experience but also with integrity and social responsibility.

Honor Traditions and Values: Let our national and moral values be your guide.

Manage Your Time Wisely: Time is irreplaceable—use it efficiently.

Redefine Success: Don't equate success solely with happiness. Learn from failures and gain experience.

Stay Curious & Keep Learning: Never lose your curiosity, and always work with determination.

"May your journey in life be full of success and fulfillment. We wish you all the best!"

Governor Demirtaş: "You Will Shape the Next Century"

Bursa Governor Mahmut Demirtaş congratulated the graduates and said:

"You have received a high-quality education from BTU’s distinguished faculty. Now, it's time to turn your academic achievements into practical success. With the internships, career planning, entrepreneurship training, international collaborations, and Industry-Based Professional Training Program (IMEP) you have completed, you are ready to make an impact.

Through your personal development, you will always be a step ahead in the professional world. You are the architects of Türkiye’s vision for the next century, and you will leave Türkiye’s mark on the future."

Mayor Yılmaz: "The World Needs Your Vision"

Yıldırım Mayor Oktay Yılmaz also praised the graduates:

"BTU is one of Bursa’s greatest assets. We have witnessed the dedication of our students in 24-hour libraries, TEKNOFEST competitions, and many other achievements.

Even though today marks the end of one chapter, it is actually the beginning of a new journey. Moving forward, you will continue to shape yourselves, our country, and even the world. The world needs your innovative minds and problem-solving spirit. Congratulations to all graduates!"
