Amid ongoing Israeli attacks on Palestine, international students at Bursa Technical University (BTU) have expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people. The university, home to over 1,500 students from 93 countries, hosted a gathering of international students around the theme of the "United Nations Simulation," where they condemned the attacks on Palestine.
Students from various countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Morocco, Mali, Chad, Lebanon, Somalia, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, and Burkina Faso, signed a joint statement. The English version of the statement was read by Aray Nazymova, a second-year student from Kazakhstan in the International Relations Department, and the Turkish version was read by Habib Salimov, a third-year student from Uzbekistan in the Computer Engineering Department. The statement reads as follows:
"As BTU United Nations Simulation students, we condemn all the war crimes committed by Israel against the civilians in Gaza, including besieging them, depriving them of food, cutting off their water and electricity, and targeting their homes, places of worship, and even hospitals, in an attempt to carry out ethnic cleansing. We deeply feel the pain of the civilians, children, women, and elderly who have been killed or injured in Israel's attacks on Gaza, and we express our solidarity with our fallen and wounded brothers and sisters. We respect and support the just cause of the Palestinian people.
Israel's attacks are against human rights and international law. The dignity of humanity is being trampled in Gaza. We urge the United Nations and the international community to raise their voices to stop these unjust attacks on the Palestinian people. We demand immediate international intervention to end these attacks by Israel and to recognize the rights of the Palestinian people. We also condemn the disgraceful international silence toward the suffering of innocent people. We demand that the international community stand with the Palestinian people and take a collective stance against Israel's attacks.
We support Turkey's efforts for peace and stability in the region. As international students from different continents, countries, and cultures, who make up the United Nations Simulation at Bursa Technical University, we will do our best to support the Palestinian people. We pray for mercy on the innocent lives lost in Israel's attacks on Gaza, particularly civilians and hospitals, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured."
This statement serves as a powerful call for international solidarity and action, emphasizing the need for an end to the violence and recognition of the rights of the Palestinian people.
