Bursa Technical University (BTÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar held a meeting with the research assistants working at the university. The purpose of the gathering was to encourage academic success and foster greater collaboration within the university. Rector Çağlar discussed the quantitative measurement of academic performance and BTÜ's goals during the meeting. Along with him, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Sinan Uyanık and Prof. Dr. Barış Tamer Tonguç also attended the session.
The meeting, held at the Mimarsinan Campus Turquoise Hall, focused on increasing institutional performance and academic success. Rector Çağlar listened to the issues and suggestions raised by the research assistants and exchanged ideas with them. The recent innovations and developments at BTÜ were also discussed. In this context, Rector Çağlar provided detailed information about the academic incentive awards and the ongoing efforts.
Rector Çağlar emphasized the university's goal to improve both qualitative academic performance and competitiveness, stating:
“As Bursa Technical University (BTU), it is our responsibility to be at the forefront of this dynamic process, produce knowledge, and contribute value to society. You play an important role in bringing this vision to life.”
A Focus on Research Assistants
Rector Çağlar also highlighted the importance of research assistants, saying:
“As future academic leaders and pioneers, I expect you to use your talents to the fullest. As research assistants, you will not only produce knowledge but also guide our students toward brighter futures.”
Another key topic discussed during the meeting was the "University Ranking and Performance Index" (URAP) and "Entrepreneurship Indexes" used to measure academic performance. Rector Çağlar provided detailed information about the current status of URAP, and also emphasized the importance of efforts regarding the entrepreneurship index.
Collaboration and International Connections
The research assistants expressed a positive attitude toward increasing collaboration within the university and strengthening international connections. The university administration affirmed its commitment to facilitating faculty members' access to up-to-date information and stated that important steps would be taken to ensure the sustainability of academic success.
The meeting also addressed expectations related to article production by PhD students and research assistants, aiming to improve their contributions and raise the university’s academic rankings.
Commitment to Addressing Research Assistants’ Concerns
Rector Çağlar promised to resolve the issues faced by research assistants and stated that such meetings would continue. After answering the research assistants' questions, the meeting concluded successfully.
